Covid19 Policies and protocols

MSFC friends:

We closed our doors in early March out of concern for the health of our students and instructors. The health and safety of our students and staff has always been the first priority of our organization.  Now that we can officially reopen, we’ve put into place new policies to keep you safe and healthy.

Below is a condensed version of our updated policies. Extensive checklists have also been created for staff and instructors to follow before and after each class.

Metal Shop Fantasy Camp COVID-19 Policies, Procedures and Protocols:

All faculty and all students are expected to show a mutual respect for each other and shared community responsibility while at Metal Shop Fantasy Camp. Everyone must understand that others in the shop may have families to go home to and may live with immune-compromised individuals. None of us want to get the COVID virus or give it to someone else.

Multiple hand sanitizer stations and disinfecting wipes are located in the front of the building and in the back.  Two bathrooms are available with soap and paper towels. Everyone is expected to sanitize their hands when they first walk into the shop and frequently throughout their time at MSFC.

We will be using infrared thermometers to check the temperature of everyone entering the building. If you have a temperature, we hope that you understand when we ask you to return when you are healthy.

Mandatory mask wearing is required for everyone at all times while inside MSFC. We will have masks available if visitors do not bring their own.

If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, we ask that you do not enter our facility. MSFC reserves the right to refuse any individual from the facility that is exhibiting flu-like symptoms.

In addition, new policies will be implemented for cleaning frequently touched surfaces which includes TWICE DAILY cleanings carried out by staff and instructors.

A new ventilation system was installed in July to suck up metal dust and germs alike.

The shop has been updated to allow for proper social distancing, access to personal protective equipment and reduced capacity.  Individual tools and equipment will be sanitized before and after classes. Shared tools and equipment will also have updated procedures for instructors to disinfectant while classes take place if used without gloves. If you would like to utilize your own equipment, please contact us.

Welding jackets are washed after each use.  Helmets are wiped down.  Gloves are lysoled.

Guests will be required to practice safe social distancing guidelines at all times.  Welding stations will be spread out at least 6’ away from each other.  Unless you live with the person, everyone is expected to maintain 6’ distance.

If you have specific questions with any of our updated policies, please contact us. We are doing our very best to protect the health of our guests and staff, while continuing to provide fun and educational classes. As recommendations for preventing transfer of the COVID virus evolve, our policies will evolve with them. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you soon.
